MASTER

The MASTER model is implemented in SPENVIS to estimate debris particle fluxes as a function of particle size, impact azimuth, elevation and velocity for a number of sources. The SPENVIS implementation considers only orbiting targets and the spacecraft orbit is the one specified by the SPENVIS orbit generator. Also, the target is assumed to be a randomly tumbling plate.

The input parameters and options for the tool are described below. When the input form has been completed, pressing the button will start the calculation and bring up the "Results" page.

Model parameters

General parameters

There are three possible scenarios for running the model: . The user can also select which sources will be considered. The following sources are available: Note that more than one sources can be select for each run.

Finally, users can specify the analysis size (lower and upper) thresholds in terms of meters, [m].

Meteoroid parameters

The following options become available when the user selects Meteoroids as a source.

For the definition of the annual meteoroid stream, the user can select between no seasonal meteoroid stream (averaging) and seasonal meteoroid stream using the Jenniskens/McBride or the Cour-Palais models. Various options for considering background meteoroids are also available:

Warning: If Meteoroids are selected as a source, then a user must either activate any Meteoroid population family or consider seasonal streams.

Results

The MASTER model produces the files listed in the table below. A description of the file formats can be brought up by clicking on their description in the table.

The report file spenvis_master.html contains the input parameters and summary tables. The output file spenvis_master_c_dia.txt contains 2D cumulative flux distribution as a function of the object size. The output files spenvis_master_d_azi.txt, spenvis_master_d_ele.txt and spenvis_master_d_vel.txt contain 2D cumulative flux distributions as a function of impact azimuth, elevation and velocity respectively.

Output files generated by the MASTER model
File name Description
spenvis_master.html Report file
spenvis_master_c_dia.txt 2D cumulative flux distribution for object size
spenvis_master_d_azi.txt 2D differential flux distribution for impact azimuth
spenvis_master_d_ele.txt 2D differential flux distribution for impact elevation
spenvis_master_d_vel.txt 2D differential flux distribution for impact velocity

To generate plots, select the plot type(s), options and graphics format, and click the button. The current page will be updated with the newly generated plot files.
