Grün model

The Grün model is implemented in SPENVIS to estimate meteoroid particle fluxes as a function of particle size.

The input parameters and options for the tool are described below. When the input form has been completed, pressing the button will start the calculation and bring up the "Results" page.

Model parameters

The spacecraft altitude is used to calculate the effects of Earth shielding and gravitational defocussing.

The Grün model gives meteoroid fluxes as a function of meteoroid mass. For a given particle density, there is a one-to-one correspondence between mass and diameter (the particles are considered to be spherical). The particle size (range) can be entered as a fixed mass (range) or a fixed diameter (range).

Results

The Grün model produces the files listed in the table below. A description of the file formats can be brought up by clicking on their description in the table.

The report file spenvis_grp.html contains the input parameters and summary tables. The output file spenvis_gro.txt contains the particle fluxes as a function of mass and diameter.
