Particle/wall interaction model

Overview

This tool evaluates the ballistic limit equations for micro-particle environment risk analysis.

The input parameters and options are function of the selected shield configuration, as described below. When the input form has been completed, pressing the button will start the calculation and bring up the "Results" page.

Model parameters

Three sets of parameters have to be defined: one for the characterization of the impactor and one for the target including possible shield(s).   Some parameters depend on the shielding configuration and only show up when needed by the selected configuration.  The different types of shielding configurations are: .

Impactor parameters

Target parameters

for a single wall configuration:

for a dual wall configuration:

for other configurations:

In some configurations the user can add a thermal blanket in front of the shielding. The required input is the areal density.

Results

The particle/wall interaction tool produces the files listed in the table below. A description of the file formats can be brought up by clicking on their description in the table.

The report file spenvis_dap.html contains the input parameters and summary tables. The spenvis_dao.txt file contains the critical diameter as a function of the impactor velocity.
