B.4 Spacecraft with onboard plasma detectors

Scientific satellites have more stringent requirements for electrical neutrality, where they are concerned with monitoring the ambient plasma environment. Parameters that may relevant include:

• electric field;

• plasma density, temperature, spectrum and velocity;

• charging state of target materials.

The additional requirements for satellites with electric field sensitive measurements (clause 6.7) are intended to be adopted by scientific satellites.
